c o n c e p t

Assignment 3 is a continuation of the previous 2 assignments, exploring the main concepts of entanglement, decay and rebirth. What does the future have installed for us? Will we conquer the ultimate force that is nature? Or will nature force its wrath upon us for revenge? - Have we exhausted the lifecycle of our planet beyond repair? Or will we adapt and find new ways of living? Either way, we know that the future will not be the same as today. Evolution is natural and all living things adapt to their surroundings, however the world is changing and at a rapid rate, faster than it can handle. We are at a crossroad where change is imminent. Should we change our lifestyles to preserve this world? Or it is too late to stop our rapidly decaying planet. We do not know what the future will be like. We do not know how the landscape will evolve; we do not know if our futures are protected against nature. But, what we do not know is that we live in a world that is well worth looking after.

Can architecture withstand the test of time? Can we achieve immortality or do we decay and fade away into nothingness? We strive to create grand structures to face this challenge however we can never defeat the ultimate force of nature. We become entangled within the landscape as it is the ultimate boundary which we cannot overcome. Nature can bring with it death and decay however once it passes, it also brings about a rebirth of life and so we are reborn into a new organism; one that responds to natures influences.; and so the cycle continues...

The fence is an organism which we can become entangled within. It forms a boundary no different to that of rivers and mountains as it twists and turns on the landscape - and if one tries to cross. It can be just as deadly. It is like a growing vine that entangles upon itself as well as those in its way. It bounds our lives, challenging us to find ways through.
