Assignment 3 Story
Story - Introduction
The year is 2050.

Over the past 40 years, our planet has reacted drastically to a century of
destruction the human race has brought upon itself.

Under current conditions the planet could no longer sustain life the way it use to.

Increased pollution levels; destruction of habitats; over harvesting of land and
resources; and global warming have resulted in a collapse of ecological systems.
Animals are on the run, plants are migrating too. Only the strong who adapt,
survive in this new world.

Social, economical and political systems have broken down. Wars, riots and
conflicts over land and resources have caused more destruction than for good.
Majority of the human population have migrated underground, into self
sustaining colonies, to protect themselves from the harsh environment.

However in this unkind, wild and desolate transformed world; Life goes on...

Final Clip Walkthrough

We start off in the future where the planet has changed. We see images of society
and nature in trouble. The sun is rising, a new dawn approaches. Flashes of cities
of the past shows the crowdedness of life today and gets us thinking of the problems
development brings upon the human race.

We fly through the desert, which is the current world; a desolate place with no trees
and water. There are no signs of life and the built form blends into the landscape as
to hide itself from others. We see flashes of the current world and ruins from the past.

The camera zooms in then moves to an aerial view of the desert. The shot turns
wire frame to see underground as the tunnels grow and spread like the roots of a tree.
The site turns into a small colony with multiple buildings. The colony becomes
self sustaining. We get the sense of isolated calm and quiet place; serenity in a land which
at first seemed dead. Still images are used to create a sense of calmness.

We journey on the fringes through the caves and mountains as we follow a light orb.
The orb is our traveller exploring this land. It is mysterious, with many unknowns.
What lies beyond the cave and mountains? It flies to some old ruins, and we see the past;
an entangling of the world; dead yet alive. We are reminded of the image of vines growing
over an old fence.

Like the vines growing architecture evolves and grows as well. We shield ourselves
from the harshness of the new land. The spirals represent nature and its overwhelming
power over the land. It is also a symbol for change and transformation. When the
smoke clears, the land has been transformed. It has evolved and we have adapted.

One of the themes of this clip is the adaptation and life cycle of all things. All things
decay, then are reborn, hence a revolution of the new world. We can also associate
this evolution with personal growth and transformation. Although the planet is the
cradle for all life, we cannot rely on evolution to fix all the problems we have created
hence we need to look after it for the sake of the future.
